The National
Rural Health Association participated in the “Champions of Change” event
hosted by the White House on Monday, October 20th, which
highlighted the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and
various organizations that are working to assist with enrollment efforts.
Representatives from
faith-based organizations, local libraries and other community grassroots
organizations were in attendance to discuss efforts to help enroll individuals
to receive health care coverage under ACA.
Health and Human Services
Secretary Sylvia M. Burwell discussed the
upcoming enrollment period and shared updates and improvements to the healthcare.gov website. The site
previously included roughly 76 screens and now has only 16 screens to help make
it more user friendly.
The next open enrollment period
begins November 15th,
and several organizations around the country are working to provide
education on coverage options.
Panelists included people from rural areas of North Carolina and
Wyoming who assisted with enrolling individuals in rural areas through various
outreach efforts. To learn more about the individuals and organizations
